3 Recipe Guide to a Simple Thanksgiving Meal (+ 2 FREEBIE RECIPES)

Updated: Dec 30, 2020

*UPDATE: WE'VE ADDED A FORM DOWN BELOW SO YOU CAN ACCESS 2 EXTRA RECIPES THAT WE'RE GIVING OUT FOR FREE

It's thanksgiving week here in Canada and we've prepared some recipes you can whip up for thanksgiving day ;) These are straightforward to follow and absolutely delicious! Remember you can always alter the recipe a little bit to your liking, but this is how we prepared it and liked it. So, if you want to serve a mouth watering meal for this weekend be sure to read on!

1. ) ROAST CHICKEN

Who doesn't love roast chicken? To be honest, we prefer chicken over turkey, shh. BUT if you would like to use turkey for this recipe, be our guest :) What you'll need:

Ingredients:

Whole chicken

½ cup of butter

3 tablespoons Parsley (dried or fresh)

3 tablespoons rosemary (dried or fresh)

3 tablespoons of olive oil

4 cloves of garlic

Juice of ½ lemon

Garlic powder (optional)

Salt and pepper

Procedures:

1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Pat chicken dry with a paper towel.

Combine oil, butter, parsley, rosemary, minced garlic, and ½ of lemon juice (don’t throw away this lemon).

2. Season your chicken thoroughly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. (Outside of the chicken, in between the chicken skin and meat and inside the chicken cavity).

3. Spread your butter mix all over the chicken and in between the chicken meat and skin (this will keep your chicken moist and the skin crispy). Make sure to put some of the mixtures inside the chicken’s cavity as well for maximum flavor. Save some of the mixtures for basting later.

4. Place the juiced ½ lemon in the chicken cavity.

5. Place chicken on a wired rack on top of a pan with the vegetables in it.

6. Roast for 55 minutes and baste halfway through cooking time. Make sure the juices run clear when you pierce the chicken thigh with a skewer.

7. Baste again and broil for another 10 minutes until golden brown. Remove chicken from the oven and cover with tin foil for 10 minutes. This method will allow the juices to recirculate.

8. While waiting go ahead and make your gravy (optional).

9. Cut the chicken into quarters, serve with gravy.

2.) ROAST VEGETABLES

Next, we're going to need the perfect side vegetables with our perfect roast chicken, trust me, this will be amazing. We don't have specifics for this one, make as much or as little as you want. Here's what you'll need:

Ingredients:

Carrots

Potatoes

Onions

Bell peppers

Procedures:

1. Cut your vegetables to bite-sized pieces.

2. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil.

3. Place the vegetables underneath the chicken. The vegetables will catch all of the chicken drippings for maximum flavor. ( The vegetables go in the oven with the chicken )

4. Serve as a side once the chicken is cooked.

3.) SIMPLE GRAVY

Last, but most certainly not least. G R A V Y . We couldn't have possibly missed the legend herself. This will bring your meal together :) Here's what you'll need:

Ingredients:

Chicken drippings (the delicious oil you get from the pan once your chicken is cooked)

1 cup of water

½ cup of flour

Procedures:

1. Add water to the chicken drippings to make 1 ½ cup of liquid in the bottom of the pan.

2. Scrape down any sticky drippings because that will add to the flavor.

3. Pour this mixture into a saucepan, turn the stove on medium heat and whisk in flour until the mixture is thick but not pasty.

4. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve!

And there we have it! Our simple 3 recipe guide for a simple thanksgiving meal! We sincerely hope you find these recipes simple and to your liking, we personally loved it and wanted more. Please give us your thoughts on this post and be sure to share it with a friend! Have a wonderful weekend. Talk to you soon!
