Hello everyone! Our team is very excited for Christmas, we are one of those people who start decorating our houses before December starts. We love the spirit of the Holidays and how it brings everyone together. We are continuing our Christmas preparations with another festive post!
Here are our favourite holiday hot chocolate beverages. There are so many different ways to make hot chocolate that will keep you nice and warm this holiday season. Just imagine cozying up next to the fire, snuggling under fluffy blankets, and watching your favourite Christmas movie.
Here are 5 different versions of hot chocolate you can try this holiday season including a “fun” version for grown-ups to enjoy:
Creamy Hot Chocolate
3 cups of milk
4 tbsp of cocoa powder (plus more for dusting over the drink afterward)
6 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate finely chopped
Splash of vanilla
3 tbsp of granulated sugar
Sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)
Whipped cream for serving
Instructions:
Bring ¼ cup of water in a medium saucepan to boil, then whisk in cocoa powder until there are no lumps. Add milk and return to simmer.
Whisk in chopped chocolate and sugar, whisking frequently until the mixture is smooth and creamy. The chopped chocolate will take about 5 minutes to completely melt.
Add in your splash of vanilla and an optional sprinkle of cinnamon if you’d like.
Top with a healthy dollop of whipped cream. Serves and enjoy it!
Spiked Hot Chocolate
Classic hot chocolate (you can follow the recipe above)
2 ounces of Baileys original Irish cream, or Kahlua
Whipped cream
Chocolate shavings
Instructions:
Follow steps to classic hot chocolate recipe.
Add in preferred liquor to the beverage before serving.
Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Cheers!
Peppermint White Hot Chocolate
1 tsp Peppermint extract
1/2 cup White chocolate chips
4 cup Milk
Peppermint candy cane
Whipped cream and crushed peppermint candy
Instructions:
Stir in the milk and chopped white chocolate in a medium saucepan. Stir it occasionally until chocolate has fully melted.
Once fully melted, remove the saucepan from the heat and add your peppermint extract and peppermint candy cane.
Top your drink with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candy. You're done!
Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
1/4 cup Caramel sauce (topping)
1 cup Caramel sauce
2 cups Milk chocolate chips
1/2 tsp Sea salt
1 Whipped cream
2 cups Heavy cream
3 cups Whole milk
Instructions:
Heat and stir the milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add in the chocolate chips, caramel sauce (1 cup), and sea salt. Stir the mixture well.
Take the pan off the heat and pour the mixture into a glass or mug.
Top your drink with whipped cream, and caramel sauce. *Chef's kiss
Butter Beer Hot Chocolate
1 tbsp sugar
6 cups whole milk
1 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp butterscotch sauce
Instructions:
Heat and stir the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it reaches a simmer. Turn off the heat, then add in the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, sugar, vanilla extract, and unsalted butter (in no particular order). Stirring until the chocolate and butterscotch chips have melted. Remove from the heat.
Pour in the mixture into a glass or a mug and top with whipping cream, and drizzle with butterscotch sauce. Thank Merlin, this is absolutely delicious!
