Should Halloween be cancelled this year?

Updated: Dec 30, 2020

The fall season is a time of fallen leaves, pumpkin-spiced anything, thanksgiving and Halloween. Halloween time is a highly anticipated event by many, young children and adults alike, but it begs the question, should children be trick-or-treating for Halloween?

We all know that the Covid-19 pandemic has put a damper on many things once normal to us, and as the days and months progress people are looking for things to do and things to go back to. With Halloween happening at the end of the month, we don't think it's the safest idea for children to be going door-to-door.

We believe that Halloween shouldn’t be canceled this year, instead, it should be celebrated uniquely and safely. Halloween shouldn’t be written off because we deserve to still have fun with our friends and family.

There are several other activities you can do with your friends and family that will allow you to still dress up but stay safe. You just have to be creative and keep your mind open. We have gathered a list of fun activities you can safely do this Halloween.

1. Do an IN-HOME TRICK OR TREAT:

Decorate each room in your house and dim all the lights. You can give out different types of candies and treats in each room. You can even decorate your house as a haunted house to make it interesting and fun for the kids.

2. Make a Candy Graveyard:

Set up tombstones in your backyard or your front yard. Bring out a fog machine to create a haunting effect. Scatter fake bones and treats around the yard. This will serve as a fun activity for the family to find.

3. Host a creepy feast:

Host a Halloween themed dinner that will make sure to scare your friends and family. You could serve different kinds of Halloween themed food like Eerie eyeball pops, spider biscuits, eyeball, and hand fruit punch, feet loaf, etc.

4. Throw a horror movie night:

A classic activity! Get your family and friends gathered up in the movie room and watch a scary movie. Make sure to close all the lights and that none of your guests are on their phones. This makes sure that they are paying attention to every creepy detail in the movie.

Here are some of the best scary movies to watch on Netflix:

  1. Eli

  2. 1922 (2017)

  3. Our House

  4. The 3rd Eye

  5. Get In

  6. Trick or Trunk

This is another clever way to make sure the kids do not miss out on Halloween this year:

You can gather up your friends and their kids and decide which house to meet up at. Decorate each of your trunks with creepy and scary Halloween decor, and hand out treats from your trunk.

There are just some ideas on how you can celebrate Halloween this year. Try your best to keep the Halloween spirit up! Dress up, stay in costume the whole night and make the best out of your time with your friends and family while staying indoors and away from crowds of people.

xx
